Dodge key replacement at a glance
Dodge is the muscle / performance nameplate under Stellantis. Per Cox Automotive sales data, Dodge's 2024 share is concentrated in Charger sedan and Durango SUV trims.
Pricing runs $175-$425. A 2018 Charger SXT HITAG-2 spare lands $215-$285; a 2023 Durango R/T SmartKey all-keys-lost runs $325-$425.
Dodge inherits the Stellantis stack including SGW on 2018+ — same AutoAuth or NASTF VSP requirements as Jeep/Ram. The Red Key valet-mode programming on Hellcat and 392 Scat Pack adds a sequence-specific quirk.
Why Dodge keys are different
Dodge inherits from the same FCA/Stellantis Sentry Key family across Jeep, Ram, Chrysler. SKREEM through 2010, FOBIK on Charger/Challenger 2008-2014, HITAG-2 + KEYLESS-GO on 2015-2017, HITAG-AES SmartKey + SGW from 2018.
Dodge-specific: Red Key on Hellcat and 392 Scat Pack. Dodge ships these with two keys: black "valet" key limiting to ~500 hp, and red key unlocking full output. BCM stores them as distinct positions — the red key must be programmed last, or the BCM rejects subsequent keys until restart. Documented in TechAuthority service procedure.
The 2024+ Charger Daytona EV moved to STLA Large platform — currently dealer-only in aftermarket lag.

What if I lost ALL my Dodge keys?

Industry insight
“Red Key sequencing on Hellcat is the one Dodge job that catches even experienced shops. The BCM tracks key positions, not key 'identities' — if you program the black valet keys first and then try to add the red key, the BCM accepts it but the engine controller defaults to limited-power calibration. You have to program red last, every time.”
